Home / Seascapes

All of my seascapes are studio works except three. Two of those I've lost without digitizing them. Similar to the issue of whether the work is intended to be a seascape or a situational composition of a structure, I've done so few of them that they are all included in this category. So, you may see them elsewhere on my site as well.

Dory Fisherman
Property of Carol Daley

11 X 14 in., Oil on Canvas

On a trip out to Oregon, my girlfriend and I were on the beach early in the morning, and I watched this old fellow waiting along his dory boat for someone to arrive with a trailer to haul the boat up onto. I stood in a place in order to make a quick sketch, and while I was furiously working the main elements onto the paper, his trailer arrived. After hauling the boat on, he hit the gas and made a bee line for me. Maybe he's an art hater... or just and art-ist hater.

North Head Light 2

16 x 20 in., Oil on Canvas

This is a rendering of North Head Light in Oregon. We had a rare chance to stay here, but already had other plans. In retrospect, I should have taken the caretaker up on it. I'd have loved to work up some art on the inside.

Light Isle Aux Galets
Property of Junpei Hirose

18 x 36 in., Oil on Canvas

This is a light on Isle Aux Galets in Michigan. It was such a long trip here, I wasn't about to leave without taking this image back with me!

Moonrise
Property of Bunny Fuller

38 x 56 in., Oil on Canvas

This is another rare painting for me. I did this specifically for Bunny Fuller of Beardstown Illinois to hang in her living room. It's just abstract enough to make it as a large decorative piece. It's difficult to capture a good image of this as it's cross-hatch stroked and that does a lot to make the composition. This image simply gives you an idea of what the piece looks like. The size of it makes a definite impression.
